Are you interested in making a difference in your community? Do you have a special place in your heart for children? The Davies Project seeks passionate and devoted individuals to drive a child and family members to subspecialty medical appointments in the tri-county area.

Volunteer drivers are unpaid and use their own vehicles to drive families to medical appointments. It’s like a neighbor driving a neighbor.

The Davies Project seeks volunteers who:

  • Can interact compassionately with all Davies Project families
  • Are reliably available at scheduled times and punctual
  • Can drive in all weather conditions
  • Understand and strictly observe the confidentiality of their riders’ personal, health, and medical care provider information and locations
  • Respect different cultures

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Be at least 20 years of age
  • Safe driving record
  • State required liability insurance
  • Working mobile phone
  • Mandatory background check
  • Completion of required training on procedures, including diversity training and proper installation of child car seats

Commitment:

  • One year commitment, renewable upon evaluation
  • Minimum three (3) hours time commitment per appointment. Occasionally, doctors and clinics may run late or behind schedule.
  • Minimum one appointment per month

To start the process, please complete the driver application form on the right and submit. We will then contact you to schedule an interview, after which a mandatory background check and verification of car insurance will be conducted. After completing a volunteer driver training program, you’re ready to roll.

If you have any questions about any of the positions contact Mary Jo at maryjo@thedaviesproject.org or 517-582-3145

The Davies Project doesn’t just provide transportation. I got to know the drivers and build friendships, and that’s what has helped my family the most. Thank you!”
