I learned about The Davies Project after one traumatizing day on the way to a doctor's appointment. It was January 2015. Eleazar was on oxygen and I had no way other than a bus to take him to his appointment.
Once I arrived at my destination I go to get off the bus and the wheel from his stroller caught the door. Next thing I know, Eleazar’s car seat goes flying out of the stroller. He goes one way and his oxygen tank the other. I was so scared I thought my baby hit the ground.
Luckily I strapped him in and he was fine. I was traumatized. As I’m balling my eyes out at the appointment a nurse begins to tell me about a new program.
I call as soon as I get home. And within moments... Pam called me back and all of a sudden there was someone on the phone that really cared about what me and my son went through and she wanted to do nothing but comfort us and tell me “it’s okay and that she had my back”. She told me any appointment to let her know.
And that was the start of how I met this amazing woman and this amazing dream she had.
And at that moment I knew life would get a little easier and I felt like someone cared and cared enough to show and make a huge difference in someone’s life. The Davies Project has helped me in many ways! My son is here smiling, running and living life because of The Davies Project!
If I had no way to my appointments life would be very different right about now. He wouldn’t have gotten his meds or all the support and help that was needed. Now Eleazar is as healthy as can be! The doctors have no signs that he was ever on oxygen.
I never thought he would be able to get up and just run without having to stop to catch a breath or ask for an inhaler. The Davies Project is more than just a ride! It’s a family, it’s a listening ear. it’s families that go through the same things you do, it’s a safe place you can go where no one will judge you or look at your child differently because they were born different!
It’s a peace of mind! It’s a sleep saver! You NEVER have to lay awake at night and wonder how you are going to get your child to an appointment that could save or help their life... we already stress and struggle... and when those times hit you the hardest and you want to scream and give up... just make a call.. and the Davies project will be there!
